Highdown Hike (Junior) [2026]
JUNIOR HIGHDOWN HIKE 2026
Date & Time: Wednesday 5th August at 7:00PM Location: Worthing Rugby Football Club (WRFC)
Race Details
Bib numbers will be available for collection at the race office from 6pm.
Participants will be requested to assemble at the start area at 6.45pm for a guided warmup. The pre-race briefing will follow at 6.55pm.
The race begins at 7pm and will follow a marked course around WRFC pitches, measuring approximately 1.2 km / 0.8 m. The route with marshal positions can be viewed at https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2984333
The route is flat, shorter in distance, and less challenging than the senior race - suitable for juniors.
There will be a cutoff time of 15 minutes, to allow enough time for final preparations for the senior race, which begins at 7.30pm.
Participants must be between 4 and 15 years old.
We recommend a parent/guardian accompanies all under-7’s on the route.
Start and Finish
The race starts and finishes at WRFC.
Officials will guide participants to the start area.
Parents/guardians will need to wait at the finish area to collect younger children. A route map will be provided at the registration desk, with the finish/collection area highlighted.
Medals will be awarded at the finish to all participants.
Safety and Supervision
Parents/guardians accept responsibility for supervising the children in their care at all times throughout the race. The race will not leave the grounds of WRFC.
Marshals will be stationed at every turn point throughout the route to guide and support participants.
A sweeper will follow the last participant to ensure no one is left behind.
Medical support will be available on-site, with first aiders and a response vehicle.
A lost/injured child procedure has been established, and all marshals will be briefed and have the relevant contact details.
Although the route is flat, it takes place on grass pitches – and therefore may be uneven in places.
What to Wear and Bring
Please ensure your child wears suitable footwear (off-road shoes or trainers) and weather-appropriate clothing.
Facilities
Toilets and parking are available at WRFC.
Catering will be provided, following strict hygiene standards.
Drinking water will be available at the finish area with disposable cups.
Emergency Contact
Race officials will be available at the race office for any enquiries or emergencies.
If your child needs assistance during the race, marshals or officials will be nearby.
Please ensure your child is prepared and aware of the safety guidance. We look forward to a fun and safe hike for everyone!
